Note: Ti-Lane MC4 Connectors are designed with secure locking tabs and cannot be disconnected by hand. A Ti-Lane MC4 Wrench Disconnect Tool (custom-fit for these connectors) is required for safe disconnection
The Tilane 2-to-1 MC4 Branch Connector (Y Connector) is designed for safely combining two solar PV module outputs into a single string input. Commonly called a solar Y connector, it enables parallel connection of solar panels—a configuration that increases the amperage of the system while keeping the voltage the same. This is especially useful in Canadian installations where system efficiency and safety must be maintained under varying sunlight conditions.
Built from premium materials and CSA approved, the Tilane Y connector is rated for 1500V DC and engineered to withstand Canada’s harsh weather—from heavy snow and ice to intense UV exposure and high summer heat. Compared to generic alternatives, Tilane connectors are heavier, sturdier, and more durable, making them ideal for permanent solar PV installations.
2-to-1 MC4 Branch Connector / Y Connector
CSA Approved for compliance in Canada
1500V DC Rated for residential, commercial, and utility arrays
Rugged, weatherproof housing for outdoor use
Engineered for high mechanical strength and long-term reliability
Increased Amperage: Parallel wiring raises current while maintaining the same voltage.
Stable Voltage: Keeps system voltage within safe limits for inverters and charge controllers.
Better Shade Tolerance: One shaded panel has less effect on overall system output compared to series wiring.
Flexible System Design: Makes it easier to expand arrays by adding more panels without overloading voltage limits.
Improved Safety: Lower string voltages reduce stress on components and wiring.
From rooftop systems in Ontario to ground-mount arrays in Alberta and British Columbia, Tilane MC4 Branch Y Connectors provide installers with a trusted, cost-effective alternative to Stäubli and Amphenol Y connectors. They deliver the durability, compliance, and performance needed to maximize solar system efficiency in Canada’s diverse climates.
