DC Self-Regulating Heat Cable – 12V– Pre-Terminated (3m / 5m / 7m) | Canada

This DC self-regulating heat cable is designed for reliable pipe freeze protection in Canadian cold climates, operating on 12V DC power. It is ideal for solar battery systems, off-grid cabins, RVs, marine applications, and mobile power systems where AC heat tracing is not practical or available.

Each cable is supplied in fixed cut lengths with factory-terminated positive and negative leads, allowing for fast, clean installation without cutting, splicing, or field termination.

The self-regulating conductive polymer core automatically adjusts heat output as temperatures change, delivering efficient freeze protection while preventing overheating—even when the cable overlaps itself.

Key Features

  • Available in 12V DC
Designed specifically for low-voltage DC systems, commonly used across Canadian solar, RV, marine, and off-grid installations.

  • Pre-Terminated DC Leads
Factory-installed positive and negative wire ends for direct connection to batteries, DC distribution panels, or charge-controlled circuits.

  • Self-Regulating Heating Technology
Heat output increases or decreases automatically based on pipe or ambient temperature, improving safety and energy efficiency.

  • Fixed Cut Lengths – No Field Cutting
Supplied in 3 m, 5 m, and 7 m lengths for predictable performance and simplified system planning.

  • Safe Overlap Design
Will not overheat or burn out, even when crossed or overlapped during installation.

  • Built for Canadian Winter Conditions
Suitable for freeze protection in Alberta, BC, Ontario, Quebec, and northern regions.

Common Canadian Applications

  • Freeze protection for water supply lines in off-grid homes and cabins

  • RV and camper plumbing during winter use or storage

  • Marine and dockside DC systems

  • Solar battery installations exposed to freezing temperatures

  • Outdoor piping where DC power is the only available source

65 °C (149 °F)

Maximum Intermittent Exposure Temperature (Power Off)
85 °C (185 °F)

Power Density
5 W/ft (15 W/m) at 10 °C

Voltage Options
12 V DC or 48 V DC

Cable Construction
Parallel bus wire with self-regulating conductive polymer heating core and weather-resistant outer jacket.

Termination Type
Factory-terminated positive and negative DC leads.

Ingress / Environmental Protection
Designed for outdoor installation and exposure to snow, moisture, and freezing conditions typical across Canada.

Note:

Heat output varies continuously along the cable depending on local pipe temperature, providing efficient freeze protection while preventing overheating.

⚠️ Important Installation Notice:
This heat cable must be connected to the correct DC voltage (12V). Proper polarity, over-current protection, and adherence to Canadian electrical safety practices are required.
